Great data visualization starts with great ideas and design but only materializes with the right tools. Here is a list of software I have used to produce figures and what I think their best features are.
-
R – Statistical analysis and data visualization software. Best feature: Reproducibility of figures. Open source software means a lot of free scripts and help available online.
-
Plotly – Online data visualization software. Best feature: Interface with multiple programming languages including R and Python or just use their graphical user interface.
-
Pictochart – Online infographic generating software. Best feature: Premade themes
-
Inkscape – Open source vector graphics editing software. Best feature: FREE
-
Adobe Illustrator – Vector graphic editing software. Best feature: Industry standard software with many free tutorials online.
-
yeroon.net/ggplot2 – A web interface for the R package ggplot2. Best feature: Prototype plots before writing out script. Great for non-R users that like ggplot2 aesthetics.

A list of additional tools and their descriptions can be found in Ten Simple Rules for Better Figures

我来自荐一下,如果是画进化树的话,用ggtree。http://www.bioconductor.org/packages/3.1/bioc/vignettes/ggtree/inst/doc/ggtree.html
